What month are wasps most aggressive in Adelaide?
Late summer through autumn — roughly February to April. By then a European wasp nest has been growing all summer and is at maximum size (thousands of wasps), and as natural food runs short they switch to scavenging sugar and meat around outdoor meals, bins and pet bowls. That's when most stings happen. Nests start small in spring, so the earlier in the season a nest is treated, the smaller and cheaper the job.

Will the council remove a wasp nest?
Only if the nest is on council land — verges, reserves, parks. On private property, the nest is the owner's responsibility (that's consistent across Adelaide councils, including Tea Tree Gully). Where do European wasps actually nest in Adelaide?
In the ground, in all my years across Adelaide, every European wasp nest I've treated has been in soil, a garden bed, a compost area or — the local favourite — a retaining wall. If you're seeing steady wasp traffic, watch their flight line: it usually ends at a small hole in the ground or a gap between retaining wall blocks, often in your yard or a neighbour's. Wall-cavity nests are common overseas but genuinely rare here. Whatever the location, one rule never changes: don't block the entry hole. Blocked wasps dig and chew for another way out, and that's how a yard problem becomes a house problem. I treat the entry, let the colony collapse over a day or two, then it can be sealed safely.
