🌿 Scabies in Adelaide:
What You Really Need to Know

Recently a few people have contacted House Care Pest Control asking what treatment for scabies we provide. Many have already been Googling things like scabies symptoms, how to treat scabies, scabies Adelaide and even can you spray for scabies. So we decided to put this simple guide together and make it available for everyone in Adelaide and across South Australia.

Scabies is a medical skin condition, not a household pest. That means there is no pest control treatment for scabies, no safe spray that will fix it in your home. Scabies mites live on the skin and only survive a short time away from the body, so the real scabies treatment comes from your GP or pharmacist, not from chemicals on furniture, carpets, or mattresses.

If you are worried about scabies symptoms, a spreading rash, or trying to work out scabies vs bed bugs or scabies rash vs other rash, the safest option is always to see your doctor. They can diagnose properly, talk about how long scabies is contagious, and manage more serious cases such as crusted scabies.

From the home side, if someone in your family has been diagnosed, here are some gentle, practical scabies home cleaning steps you can take:

• Hot wash bedding, towels, and clothes at sixty degrees

• Seal anything unwashable in a bag for a couple of days, which is longer than scabies can live on furniture or fabrics away from the body

• Give mattresses, carpets, and couches a good vacuum

• Make sure everyone in close contact is treated at the same time, to avoid a cycle of reinfestation

If you are ever unsure, just send a message. We are here to keep Adelaide homes calm, informed, and protected in family safe ways, while your GP looks after the medical side of scabies treatment.
