Why Killing Ants Doesn’t Solve the Problem
Ant queens can lay anywhere from 800 to 800,000 eggs per day, which means that even if thousands of ants are killed, the colony can recover very quickly.
It’s very common for us to visit homes where families have been battling ants every day. They may have sprayed, wiped, or vacuumed thousands of ants, yet the problem keeps returning.
That’s because the ants you see are only a small fraction of the colony. The real source of the problem, the queen and the nest, usually remains hidden in walls, soil, roof voids, gardens, or under paving. When only the worker ants are removed, the colony simply produces more workers to replace them.
Ant problems usually start outside the home. If they are not addressed early and properly, colonies can quickly expand and migrate into wall cavities and roof voids, making them much harder to control.
