PestShield is House Care Pest Control's own general pest and rodent protection system — developed right here in Adelaide, by me, after years of field experience and testing what actually holds up against local spiders, rats and mice, cockroaches, ants, 12 pests in total.
That includes bees, and here's exactly how: PestShield intercepts scout bees before they ever settle into your roof or wall voids, so a swarm looks elsewhere before it ever becomes a hive you'd need removed. That's the difference between "bee-safe" and actually saving bees — once they enter inaccessible areas, treatment is usually the only option. Why it matters right now

Why do some pest treatments not last as long as others?
Usually it's not the chemical — it's the time. A rushed fifteen-minute visit means guessing. Our full visit runs about an hour and a half on the average home — inspection and conversation first, then around an hour of actual treatment — and that extra care is a big reason results last well beyond the standard warranty.
How does PestShield work?
It's an exterior barrier applied around your home's entry points, walls, fences line and garden edges — affecting pests before they get inside, rather than spraying indoors after they've already arrived. Prevention first, not reaction.
Is PestShield safe for bees and pets?
Yes. It's family and pet-safe throughout. It's also designed around keeping bees safe — scouts are intercepted before they settle in roof or wall voids, never targeted or harmed.
How long does PestShield actually last?
Officially, 6 months. Many clients report well beyond that — some as long as 13 to 14 months — though results depend on your property and surroundings.
What's the difference between PestShield and a standard pest spray?
Care. I know that sounds like a throwaway word, but here's what it actually means in practice. We use an outside-in approach — treating the exterior thoroughly, and only spot-treating inside if it's genuinely needed. In the real world, 98% of our clients get full results without any inside spray at all, which means far less chemical exposure where your family actually lives.
Standard sprays fall short because they don't reach the point of runoff on porous exterior walls — the surface needs to be properly saturated, not lightly misted, and a standard backpack sprayer just isn't built for that at scale. The mixture also needs to stay evenly blended from the first section treated to the last, which a backpack sprayer can't reliably do either. And a proper soaking barrier along fence lines, garden edges and the full perimeter of the house is what actually changes the result, not a quick pass with a hose-end sprayer.

Does PestShield have a strong smell, or trigger allergic reactions?
No lingering chemical smell at all — that's one of the most common complaints about pest treatments generally, and it's almost always caused by heavy indoor application and type of chemical choosen. Since PestShield is applied outside-in, that's rarely an issue here. No client has reported an allergic reaction to date, though as with any treatment, if you or a family member has a specific sensitivity, mention it beforehand and I'll talk you through it.
Do I need to leave my house for the treatment?
No — you're welcome to stay inside with windows and doors closed while we treat the outside. Once we're done, we ask that you keep clear of the treated outdoor areas for about 2 hours while it dries. After that, it's safe to use the yard as normal. If German cockroaches, fleas, or mites need indoor treatment, you'll need to leave during that visit.
